Hey….its time for a pre-Thanksgiving rundown of everything that is going on at Rams Head in the next couple of months – and we mean EVERYTHING – from A to Z:
A: is for Alter Bridge appearing here Dec. 16th. The former Creed members have released one of 2010’s most critically heralded records, AB III, and their show is selling fast. Front man Myles Kennedy is one of rock’s most underrated frontmen…his presence makes Alter Bridge one of rock’s most formidable acts.
B: is for The Bridge….one of Baltimore’s favorite acts and, can you believe, this Thanksgiving Eve party is the group’s NINTH annual Thanksgiving show? They’ve become an institution, and we’re hearing big things about them for 2011!
C: is for the Charm City Devils – maybe Baltimore’s favorite local rock radio staple. Their show here Friday night is KILLER – with Sweet Cyanide, So Low and Baltimore’s School of Rock on board this is going to be a great night. Get your fat turkey-stuffed keister off the couch and come out…this will be a good way to get away from the in-laws.
D: is for Diaperman. George Clinton and P Funk are coming back but it won’t be the same without him. R.I.P.
E: is for Escape the Fate. The Las Vegas hard rock band has cultivated a diehard, and their new self-titled album debuted at #4 on the Billboard Rock album chart, #3 on the Billboard Alternative chart (just behind Kings of Leon & Mumford and Sons) and #1 on the Billboard Tastemakers Chart, and the first single “Issues” is still climbing the rock radio charts. Check out this interview and then come see what the buzz is about Feb. 3rd.
F: is for Frontiers, the World’s Greatest Journey Tribute. Just me, but I think this is the best way to spend an office Holiday party. You just know that your boss saw Glee and will try to get “EVERYONE” to sing “Don’t Stop Believing.” It goes down Dec. 17th.
G: speaking of Holiday Partys, G is for Ghost as in Jukebox the Ghost, the main act for WTMD’s Holiday Party Dec. 9th. Everyone I know who has seen them won’t stop talking about great they are. That’s a compliment.
H: is for Hinder, back again with a MONSTER lineup Dec. 8th. Saving Abel, My Darkest Days and Default make up the rest of this show, and the buzz online says this is going to rival the Skillet/Papa Roach bill for best lineup of the year.
I: is for Irish, as in the Young Dubliners and The Rovers, set to touch down here Feb. 16th. We think a wee bit of (insert favorite Irish beer or whiskey here) may be drank that evening. Just a wee bit.
J: is for Jah Works…..back for the second straight year on the weekend after Thanksgiving. Can’t get enough of a good thing after all. Fear Nuttin’ Band and Broken Coast join the bill to make this a BIG night in Baltimore.
K: is for Merry Kix-Mas. Theyyyyyyyy’re back….Baltimore’s favorite sons are back for their traditional Christmas show with special guests So Low. Tickets are going FAST…get your , like, now.
L: is for Little Feat. This is one of our Annapolis room’s favorite acts, but every once in a while we like to give you a chance to get out of your seats and dance to Feat, like they did on Halloween when Phish covered the band’s 1978 live album Waiting for Columbus.
M: is for Grammy-nominated Milkshake – a kids band. We are offering family’s of four the chance to buy four packs and save $10! This is a GREAT thing to do with your kids….fun for them AND fun for you. Much better than watching more re-runs of Dora and Diego. They touch down Feb. 12th.
N: is for New Year’s Eve. And this year, Baltimore’s biggest, best New Year’s Eve show is J Roddy Walston and the Business. Only $20. Cheap drink specials. What’s wrong with you…get here…
O: is for Orleans, New Orleans that is, and right now the hottest act out of Nawlins is Trombone Shorty. Quite possibly 2010’s breakout act of the year, Shorty appeared at Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits and Virgin Free Fest, and has become one of the most buzzed about live acts of the year.
P: is for P-Funk. What can you say about P-Funk that we don’t already know? If you haven’t seen George Clinton and company live WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? Dec. 2 is your chance. Take it.
Q: is for Q and A – stay tuned to this blog in coming days for an exclusive interview with rising comedienne Whitney Cummings who appears as part of our Comedians of Chelsea package. She is hilarious, and this is going to be a great night out Dec. 4th.
R: is for worldwide pop sensation Robyn, who just released her smash album Body Talk Stateside this week. Read Midnight Sun blogster Erik Maza’s show preview here….
S: is for Sean Kingston. Did you know Kingston has recorded with everyone from Lil’ Wayne to Justin Bieber to Dr. Dre and his song “Beautiful Girls” is one of Billboard’s hottest songs of the last couple years. His new record features collaborations with Bieber and Wayne, as well as Nicki Minaj and Kanye….can you get any more high profile?
T: is for Thanksgiving. When you think Thanksgiving this weekend, and you are tired of your in-laws, think Rams Head! We have great shows all weekend, including the Bridge Wednesday night, Charm City Devils Friday and Jah Works Saturday. Hell, why not come to all three!
U: is for Umphrey’s Mcgee, back again January 30th. Mind blowing live show. Office favorite Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad opens.
V: is for vs.; as in DJ Lil E’s wild Madonna vs. Lady Gaga vs. M.I.A. party here January 28th. This is one of D.C.’s hottest partys and it’s selling like it. Get ready for fist pumps full of pop and an experience leaving the dance floor littered with neon confetti, phone numbered napkins, masks, cell phones, clothes and inhibitions.
W: is for Wale….hip-hop live shows don’t get much bigger or better than this …and check out this great story about how Wale and John Wall spent their Thanksgiving…if you need more reasons why you should go see Wale live, Paste Magazine gives you ten of ‘em
X: is for XXX, like the movies most porn stars are in. This Porn Star Dancing video isn’t XXX but is one of the year’s most unforgettable rock singles. Its creator, My Darkest Days, is with Hinder Dec. 8th.
Y: is for Yellow and Black…the two favorite colors of Pittsburgh’s Wiz Khalifa. Baltimore seems ready to forgive him; we just added a second show by popular demand Dec. 27th!
Z: (finally) is for Zeppelin, as in Get the Led Out, the World’s (for real) Greatest Zeppelin Tribute. Note perfect. Really. Or at least as close as you are going to currently get. You need to see it to believe it Led Zep fans.
And finally, we’ll leave you with this Thanksgiving classic. Happy Gobble Day!
