Dover, DE – The Fordham and Old Dominion Brewing Company will be presenting “The Blues Brothers” on April 25, 2012, as part of their Movie Night at the Brewery series.

With the doors opening at 7:30 pm, guests will have the opportunity to view the Blues Brothers on an outdoor screen at the brewery, located at 1284 Mc D Dr. Dover, DE, and enjoy three beers and a popcorn for the price of $5. The brewery asks that individuals bring a blanket or chair to sit on and a can of food for the Shepherd Place Homeless Shelter in Dover. Additionally, the sale of Bier Dawgs and Root Beer will go to benefit the Shelter. Seating is limited and tickets are still available at the brewery.

About Wisteria Wheat:

The Wisteria Wheat beer was named by the first Fordham brewer, Allen Young and the Rams Head Tavern General Manager, Corky Fertitta.  “Allen and I were sitting on the patio one spring day, tasked with coming up with some sample names for beers for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Fire Arms. All beer names have to be approved by them before you can sell it. We came up with a couple random names then hit on Wisteria Wheat, it had a nice ring to it and the wisteria vine on our patio is well known. All these years later we can’t remember any of the other names we came up with that day, but wisteria wheat stuck, and has been, ever since,  the name of one of our most beloved seasonal”.

The Wisteria Wheat utilizes a pale malt, malted wheat and torrified wheat and has an ABV of 5.8%.  Fordham Brewer brews the Wisteria Wheat with Perle hops and chamomile and it has 11 IBUs.  Interestingly, its flavor primarily comes from the Weizen strain of yeast, which gives it notes of banana and clove.

The Rams Head Tavern Annapolis will be celebrating Maryland Day with food and drink specials on March 23^rd to March 25^th, 2012.

According to the www.Marylandday.org website, “Maryland Day” is a collaborative event to celebrate the history of Maryland by the local businesses of the Historic Annapolis area. Whether you like historic sites, cultural activities, dining or shopping!

The Maryland General Assembly authorized Maryland Day as a legal holiday devoted to Maryland history.

Rams Head Tavern Annapolis restaurant will be serving a special Maryland Day menu along with the regular tavern menu all weekend long. This menu will feature signature Maryland dishes including crab cake sliders, Baltimore steamed shrimp and Maryland fried chicken. “Maryland day is a great event to celebrate. The Fordham and Old Dominion Brewing Company will host the inaugural R2Hop2 Beer and Music Festival, Saturday, May 19, 2012, from Noon-6pm, at the brewery located in Dover, Delaware. The festival coincides with American Craft Beer Week and will feature many of the brewery’s specialty beers, including Oak Barrel Stout and Hop Mountain.

Over the course of the day, four live bands, Bond & Bentley, The Grilled Lincolns, Pasadena and the Rovers, will take the stage. Bond & Bentley is a high-energy six piece band recognized for their soul-stirring melodies. The Grilled Lincolns play what they like, period, and have shared the stage with the Roots. Pasadena offers smooth bass lines, emotional lyrics and intricate rhythms. Likewise, the Rovers have taken the Celtic music scene by storm with their unorthodox rocked out traditional music.

Don’t leave the kids behind – there will be lots for them to do in the children’s coral. This private area will feature face painters, balloon artists, an exclusive event coloring book and a local fire truck to climb on! Kids will also enjoy the brewery’s Root Beer and Ginger Ale.President and CEO of Fordham and Old Dominion, Jim Lutz, stated “Our business motto is ‘Make friends, brew good beer and have fun.’ And we believe that the best way to share our mantra is through this beer and music festival. Rams Head restaurants, located throughout Maryland has announced the release of Old Dominion Company’s “Gigi’s Farmhouse Ale” on Thursday, March 1^st, 2012 from 4-6:00pm.

The “Gigi’s Farmhouse Ale” will be the newest release from the Old Dominion Brewery Company, the first of the Dominion’s three diverse beers that were inspired by 1940’s pin-up girls. Walter Trifari, Master Brewer of Fordham and Old Dominion Brewery, stated that, “We have spent the last ten years creating traditional ales and lagers. We jumped at the chance to try something new. We had a lot of fun making it and we will have even more fun drinking it.”

On, Thursday, March 1^st, 2012 beer lovers will be able to taste the new brew at their local Rams Head restaurant from 4-6:00pm. Rams Head will have limited edition glasses for the beer release that will be available for $4 at 4pm on the release day. Patrons who purchase the glass also receive a fill-up of the new release and refills are $1 during release party. 

According to Americancraftbeer.com, Gigi’s Farmhouse Ale is a tastebud seducing, Belgian-style farmhouse ale. An unfiltered, bottle-conditioned Saison, brewed with pilsner oats and torrified wheat malt , coming in at a 7.2% ABV .The beer was also picked as their “Serious Beer Pick’ of the month.

Noting the burgeoning craft beer market in Europe, Fordham has commenced shipping craft beer to the United Kingdom with the help of Heathwick, LTD. The first wave of exports delivered Copperhead Ale, Tavern Ale, Doppelbock and Helles Lager, which are being offered in pubs and liquor stores all over London. Intended to be session beers, these four styles provide an accessible introduction to the flavors and nuances of the craft beer world.
