And soon. Also of note is the return of Robert Cray Band, Jane Monheit, and Jimmy Webb as well as the addition of an all ages Carbon Leaf show and Cello innovator Ben Sollee’s Rams Head On Stage debut!
Here’s everything that went on sale at noon today:
Saturday, October 22 | John Hiatt & The Combo w. Lilly Hiatt
When everyone from Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Rodney Crowell and Willie Nelson to Buddy Guy, Flaco Jimenez and Ry Cooder have covered his tunes, it’s quite clear that those who appreciate great songwriting and savor a keen wit, narrative flair and refusal to pen a sloppy or sappy line, eagerly embrace John Hiatt’s tunes. John Hiatt and The Combo Players include Doug Lancio on Guitar; Kenneth Blevins on Drums and Patrick O’hearn on Bass.
Saturday, November 19 | Ben Sollee w. Vandaveer All Ages Show
Armed with a Cello, Ben Sollee first emerged with his inviting 2008-debut Learning to Bend. Saturated with sweeping moods and visceral maturity, Learning to Bend showcased a wild mixture of musical approaches that Ben describes as “classically influenced folk with leanings of R&B and soul.” The album caught the ear of NPR’s Morning Edition, which heralded Sollee as one of the “Top Ten Great Unknown Artists of 2007.” “I never expect to see that cello in one piece after Ben gets done playing it,” says Jim James of My Morning Jacket.
Tuesday, December 6 | Robert Cray Band
Considered to be one of the most expressive vocalists and impressive guitarists on the contemporary rhythm and Blues scene, 5-time Grammy Award winner Robert Cray hits the road with his band this winter with his stone-soup style blues offerings. “Every time somebody asks me about where my music comes from, I give them five or six different directions – a little rock, soul, jazz, blues, a little gospel feel. Then there are some other things that maybe fall in there every once in a while, like a little Caribbean flavor or something. You just never know.”
Friday, December 23 | Carbon Leaf w. Aunt Martha
Just Added Friday 3pm All Ages Show
As Carbon Leaf approaches their 20th year of award-winning recording and touring, the band enters 2011 with more creative designs to independently produce a steady stream of new music. The Richmond, Virginia-based group has scored hit singles on both AAA and Hot AC Radio with “Life Less Ordinary” and “The Boxer,” placed first in the International Songwriting Competition, won an American Music Award, and recorded the music for Universal’s Curious George II soundtrack in 2010.
Thursday, January 26 | Jane Monheit
An extraordinarily gifted jazz vocalist whose sincere and romantic interpretations of exceptional songs has made her a favorite in both the jazz and cabaret worlds, Monheit has garnered numerous accolades in the past decade. Her first album, Never Never Land, was voted top debut recording by the Jazz Journalist’s Association and stayed on the Billboard Jazz chart for over a year.
Friday, January 27 | Jimmy Webb
The critical acclaim composer Jimmy Webb has received during his more than forty years of success is as remarkable as the accomplishments they honor: he is a member of the National Academy of Popular Music Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, the Nashville Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, and, according to BMI, his “By The Time I Get To Phoenix,” has been the third most performed song from the 60s until 1990, with “Up, Up and Away” on the same list in the top thirty.
