Rams Head brings the “fun” to the plunge this weekend!

This Saturday, January 28th, The Rams Head Group has committed to grin and “bear” it for the athletes of Special Olympics Maryland (SOMD) by taking a chilly dip into the Chesapeake Bay alongside 10,000+ other warm-hearted people. ( Crazy, of course!) So, in honor of the plungers this weekend, we’ve put together a little playlist to warm up your brave bones and thaw out those tootsies.

But, the fun doesnt stop right here. At the plunge, make sure you check out the Rams Head Ice Lodge/ Beer Garden. The tent opens at 8am and will be serving up great drinks and tons of rockin’ music beginning with Sticktime, and followed by the Eastern Shore’s favorite band, Hot Tub Limo. Then, we’ll turn things up a notch with multi-platinum rockers Fuel playing songs from their hit albums “Sunburn” and “Something Like Human” and end on a high note with high octane Celtic group The Rovers closing out the day.

Wait… did i say closing out the day? No way- The party might end at the Plunge. But, we’re moving the party to the Rams Head ( Rams Head Tavern Annapolis, Rams Head Shore House, Rams Head Roadhouse & Rams Head Tavern Savage). Stop by one of the Rams Head restaurants for the “Thaw Out” post plunge party from 4-7:00pm. Enjoy $3 Arctic Shooters, $4 Polar Bear Cocktails and $5 Plunge Bombs. WooHoo!

“Thaw” out at the Big Thaw Bock beer release party, February 2nd!

It’s not easy being a beer lover…. but, let me tell you the news about the upcoming beer release at the Rams Head restaurants. The Rams Head will be jumping into February head first with the release of the “Big Thaw Bock“, brewed at the Old Dominion Brewing Company in Dover, Delaware. Its time to “Thaw” out from the winter, gather some pals and join us for the release on Thursday, February 2nd, 2012. During the release, Rams Head is offering $4.00 souvenir glassware with a fill-up of the new brew and refills are $1.00 during the 4:00-6:00pm release.

The recipe for the “Big Thaw Bock” was created by Brewmaster Walter Trifari of the Old Dominion Brewing Company. The final product is a 7.5% ABV. The Bock is a bottom- fermented golden lager that has a full-bodied mouth feel followed by a spicy citrus hop flavor and aroma. The beer will be available at Rams Head located in Annapolis, Crownsville, Stevensville, and Savage Mill, Maryland.

Kick off 2012 with the Scotch Ale Beer Release Party!

One of the best things about January is not the cold winter days, but the release of Fordham Brewing Company’s, Scotch Ale at the Rams Head restaurants. This year, come celebrate the release with us on Thursday, January 5th, 2012 from 4-6pm.

Mark your calendars, and get here early. Scotch Ale is always one of our most popular releases. This beer is exceptionally smooth and thoroughly robust, the Ale has a deep delicious flavor that will warm you down to your wee little bones.

The Rams Head will have limited edition glasses for the beer release. The special glass for Scotch Ale will be available for $4 at 4pm on release day. Patrons who purchase the glass also receive a fill-up of the Scotch Ale and $1 refills during the 4-6pm release party.

According to Walter Trifari, head brew master at Fordham Brewing Company, “This unique seasonal comes out just in time to warm your soul on those chilly winter nights. We brewed this beer with a touch of Beechwood smoked malt for a smooth & subtle smokiness that we know you’ll enjoy all winter. This beer also pairs well with smoked meats, salmon & buttery cheeses such as Gouda and Brie.”

Party Down with Reel Big Fish!!

Mama, Daddy, Baby Sis. Tell your cousins all about this! The popular ska punk band , Reel Big Fish is ready to party down this Monday, November 28th at the Rams Head Live. But, before they start party hardy hardy hardy hardy! We asked Aaron Barrett the singer of RBF a few questions.

Q: You guys have played in Baltimore and specifically at Rams Head Live quite a few times. Do you have any particular Baltimore or Rams Head memories? A: (AARON B) We love playing in Baltimore, especially at Rams Head Live! the venue is amazing and has a luxurious backstage and an awesome sound system and the audience is always incredibly energetic and loud! We were amazed last time to see that the whole crowd knew the words to EVERY song, even the weird, obscure ones! Monday is going to be a great night!

Q: Your band has been around, in one shape or another, for the past 15 or so years. How do you keep it new for yourself and for your fans? A: (AARON B) We just love what we do, we love to play music in front of people and i think the crowd sees how much fun we’re having and can’t help but join in the fun! We also always try to play all the songs of ours that we know people love and that’s something that’s always puzzled us about a lot of bands, once a song of theirs gets popular or they find out that people really like a certain song they will stop playing it! i figure If you do happen to get popular in one way or another and are able to actually get people to pay to come see you play then respect those people and give them something they can enjoy too. Don’t be an asshole and refuse to play the songs they like, you’re lucky those people are there to see you!

Q: The last couple Reel Big Fish releases have been covers, re-recordings or live releases. Are there any plans for new music? A: (AARON B) Yes, definitely! I’ve been working on some new songs and hopefully we can get into the studio this coming January before we leave for our Europe tour.

Q: What would “Reel Big Fish: The Movie” be like? Who would play you guys? A: (AARON B) I would hope that it would be a wacky comedy like “Three Amigos” or “Pee Wee’s Big Adventure“and i would hope that the cast would include Will Ferrel, John C Reilley, Alec Baldwin and Russel Brand

Q: You have great hair and sideburns. Any tips for our readers? A: (AARON B) It takes years and years of practice and experimenting to perfect such hair styles. good luck!

Q: Who takes the brunt of the jokes: the rhythm section or the horn section? A: (AARON B) We direct all of our mean spirited, humiliating, degrading jokes at our drummer Ryland

Q: What is your favorite bad joke? A: (AARON B) Wanna hear the joke about the broken pencil? Never mind, it has no point.

Q: What are some of the worst band names you’ve ever heard? A:(AARON B) I think “Reel Big Fish” is a terrible band name, but it sounded good when we were 16. at least it’s better than “Maroon 5″. haha There was a band that was playing in all the same clubs as us on our first full US tour in 1996 that was called “the Impotent Sea Snakes” , i never saw them play but i always though it was a pretty amazing/ terrible band name.

Q: Have you ever heard any phrase more than “Play “Beer” “ ? A:(AARON B) Yes, on Facebook we hear the phrase “You guys are assholes because you’re not playing MY town on THIS tour…”much, much more often. people just don’t understand that we can only play EVERYWHERE in the world maybe ONCE a year!! We try! but yes, we do hear “PLAY BEER” at EVERY show and it must be very annoying to whoever is around the person that’s yelling. especially since most of our fans know that we ALWAYS play the song “Beer” at EVERY show!

Q: What can fans that have never been to a Reel Big Fish show expect? A: (AARON B) A non-stop roller-coaster ride of thrills, excitement, entertainment, great music and fun fun fun!

The Biggest Holiday Party of the Year! December 15th at the Rams Head

In celebration of the holidays, the Rams Head restaurants will be hosting a Xmas Xtravaganza party from 6pm-9pm on Thursday, December 15^th, 2011. This year’s Xmas Xtravaganza is sure to get even the scroogiest of bah-humbugs in the holiday spirit.

To set the tone of the event, the holiday classic ‘A Christmas Story‘ will play be on repeat play while $2.50 cider and egg nog drink specials will turn up the holiday cheer. The Rams Head Christmas tree will be ready for trimming and guests are encouraged to bring homemade ornaments or decorate the ornaments during the event. The Best Ornament will win a $50 Rams Head Gift Card. The event will also culminate with the return of the ugliest sweater contest , the winner this year could win 4 tickets to any Rams Head Live show in the 2012 ticket season. So, make sure you take out the ugly sweater grandma gave you!!

The Xtravaganza will also include an unique beer release. The Fordham Brewing Company will be releasing a small batch of the new brew “Espresso Milk Stout”. According to Walter Trifari, head brewmaster of Fordham Brewing , the Espresso Milk Stout is Full bodied Stout brewed with lactose sugar and infused with espresso coffee. Sweet roasted stout with a subtle yet apparent coffee finish. Sounds delish, right?

So, don’t be a scrooge and come spend the evening with us to help celebrate the holidays!

Do you hear what i hear…Doppeklbock is back! So, don’t be a Scrooge and miss this event. On Thursday, December 1st, the Rams Head restaurants and Fordham brewing company are excited to release the popluar brew, Doppelbock. The beer release party will be from 4pm-6pm . ( So, dont forget to tell your boss you need to leave work early that day)

During the event, each Rams Head location will have limited edition glasses for the beer release. The souvenir glass will be available for $4 at 4pm on release day.
