Stone Temple of Awesome – Pier Six Pavilion 2011

Lets be honest. How badly do you want a beer, a hot dog, some friends, a frisbee, some great music and, for the love of god….some summa summa time?! Well my friends like the rising and setting sun, the glory days of 2011 are on the horizon and by the good grace of the music gods we will party, and we will dance, and we will throw down like we neva gonna leave town.

Buzzing with anticipation, the Pier Six Pavilion sits stoically upon the Baltimore inner harbor like a sleeping dragon. Water churns around the edge of the docks and winds gust beneath the canopy. The lights are low but the energy is high and this dormant dragon is ready to breathe some serious hell fire in 2011.

Rarh! (10 points if you can tell us what movie this dragon is from? (or a pair of tickets))

In launching the this season, we had to bear in mind that Baltimore is no city to be messed with. Baltimore will drop it like a bad habit if they ain’t down so we knew we needed a band that could set the stage for the entire summer to really rip something righteous. So who better than one of the most epic rock bands of all time?!?!

…a little vintage STP…

Stone Temple Pilots are not only set to kick off the Pier Six season on April 26, they are gearing up to blow a damn hole in the tent. Scott Weiland, Dean and Robert DeLeo and Eric Kretz come to Baltimore with their infamous brand of grunge meets alternative rock. They will be joined in true Baltimore fashion by the one and only 98 Rock who will be airing live from the party on the lawn so get there early! b Daily will be celebrating their Birthday as well and will have 500 drink tickets to hand out to the first lucky fans!

And if STP wasn’t all you need, then remember we’ve got … beer, we’ve got hot dogs, we’ve got burgers…more? We’ve got margaritas, hula hoops, cornhole, ticket winning stations…more? We’ve got lemonade, chicken fingers, merchandise, lawn party, drink tickets. Phew, alright you’re on your own! Tickets are on sale but going fast. Start your summer off right in the temple of awesome!

From The Bunker….

Wow….what a day! Big thanks to everyone at WRNR for throwing the inaugural party with us here in Annapolis. Great day…lots of fun, and it was good to see so many excited people. Speaking of which, I expect to see just as many of you get excited when you see in our e-mail blast tomorrow that we are going on sale with Mos Def (Feb. 25) and Tricky (March 10) tomorrow afternoon. But…I got a little secret…the shows are actually on sale right now, at www.ramsheadlive.com. Anyone who buys a ticket to either show between now and tomorrow at noon will be entered into a contest to be upgraded to our VIP section for BOTH shows AND a free pair of Thievery Corporation VIP tickets to boot!

Also just announced, but not onsale until Saturday at noon, moe will be coming to Rams Head Live for two great nights March 27 and 28 with very special guest The Bridge. Also, we have just announced the Cold, Cold Heartbreakers as the special guests for the Scott Weiland extravaganza Jan, 27th. Anyone who has seen Rodney Henry and company knows their involvement guarantees that this will be the party of the year! Alright, that’s all for now – get your tickets to Tricky or Mos Def on the sneak today or tomorrow morning before the e-blast goes out!

From the Bunker….

Hey everybody….

I have to admit..I’m a little freaked out right now. Last week I spoke highly of Eartha Kitt in this blog and then she died. Hopefully… this is not the beginning of a “from-the-bunker” curse. But just in case… Pauly Shore.

On a lighter note, New Year’s Eve is almost over and it’s time to start thinking about 2009. We have several incredible shows coming up at Rams Head LIVE that may have gotten lost on you during the Christmas Crunch.

Coming soon: Scott Weiland, Thievery Corporation, The Black Keys, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Mr. Greenegenes, Dropkick Murphys, Hollywood Undead, and a special January tri-bill featuring 3 of Ska’s best party bands; The English Beat, Bad Manners, and The Pietasters.

For info on dates and times, check out www.ramsheadlive.com but make sure you call before coming to the show because you never know which one of these bands took it from the curse.

Thanks, and see ya next week (hopefully).

P.s., we are not making light of Ms. Kitt’s passing… she was an amazing talent an amazing lady, and sooo much better than Lee Merriweather. (You better watch out Lee)

Sooo Stoked About Scott!

exerpt from SPIN Magazine's digital December issue.

exerpt from SPIN Magazine's digital December issue.

The 90′s for me may have been full of teen angst, but there is no arguing that they were also full of Rock and Roll rebels. The decade’s early music scene was led by frontmen who designed and commanded a new frontier. A land of ambiguous lyrics and thrashing guitars – where middle fingers where always pointed at “the man” – where a young non-conformist like myself could find understanding and solace – away from the cruel, cruel world of pep-rallies and high school dances.

Okay perhaps that is a little melodramatic, but so were my teen years – weren’t yours?

My walls definitely weren’t plastered with Tiger Beat images of Mark-Paul Gosselaar. My heroes, and my heart-throbs, were those governors of “grunge”: Kurt Cobain, Chris Cornell, Eddie Vedder, Layne Staley, and of course Scott Weiland.

So it is in my late twenties that I again don my purple velvet Doc Marten’s, in preparation for the Scott Weiland show at Rams Head LIVE (Jan. 27). Touring in support of his most recent solo work and back together with Stone Temple Pilots, Scott was featured in December’s issue of SPIN magazine. Inside, he confronts questions about bands, drugs, family, old age, and whether or not Velvet Revolver will see a second circuit. To read the full article, simply click on the above picture.

Oh, Scott. To see you in all your androgyny, slouched and writhing around your mic stand. As skinny as Iggy and as effeminate as Bowie. Through two decades you’ve maintained your curious coolness and come to Baltimore - as sexy as ever.
