The Rams Head Group is pleased to release Fordham Brewing Company’s, Silopanna Witbier beer, on Thursday, August 4th, 2011 from 4-6pm.

Silopanna Witbier will be tapped at 4pm. “Mark your calendars, and get ready to try this brand new brew. Nothing sounds better than a cold brew on a hot summer day. Tasting this beer will only get you more excited for the Silopanna Music Festival” says Rams Head Tavern Annapolis Manager, Zach Price.

Rams Head will have limited edition glasses for the beer release. The special glass for Silopanna Witbier will be available for $4 at 4pm on release day.  Patrons who purchase the glass also receive a fill-up of the Silopanna Witbier and refills are $1 during the 4-6pm release party. 

During the release, patrons will be able to enter to win tickets for the Silopanna Music Festival on August 27^th at the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds. Silopanna is a one day, all ages ages music festival featuring Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, Matt & Kim, Fitz and the Tantrums, Harper Blynn and 15 other regional musicians to feed your soul.    Tickets are $39.50 for General Admission or $195 for VIP, www.silopannafest.com

According to Walter Trifari, Head Brewmaster at Fordham Brewing Company, “ Silopanna Witbier is a Belgian style White ale that is brewed using Pale malt and Belgian wheat. Coriander, Orange peels and Lemon Grass are added late in the boiling process to give a subtle but yet noticeable character. It’s served unfiltered to ensure a classic Belgian flavor produced by the yeast. There’s no need for an orange garnish, let the beer tell its own story”.

Matt and Kim will most likely be playing basketball with Wiz Khalifa in Brooklyn.  Jimmie’s Chicken Shack recently had their first “real practice in 10 years” – I think they’re still recovering.  Harper Blynn will be hanging with their Models/Dancers friends before their West Coast tour.  Grilled Lincolns & Pasadena are stocking up on dramamine before they board a boat next weekend.   Jarflys is still riding high after releasing this video for ‘balancing act.’  And Fitz and the Tantrums are preparing to be Aussie’s for a week.

Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings have come a long way since their humble beginnings nearly a decade ago. One of the most talked about names on the lips of customers leaving last year’s Virgin Festival was Sharon Jones who, along with her Dap Kings, threatened to steal the show from the much more ballyhooed headliners. It would be easy to call her funky R&B sound “retro” but the appropriate description is probably “timeless.” We are so excited to be bringing her back to Baltimore May 7th. Her story, well chronicled here in a 2007 Village Voice feature, features enough conflict and strife for a James Brown-meets-Rocky style underdog pic. Really, though, dramatics aside, all you really need to know is that this lady can sing. I mean really sing, and she’s backed by a group of guys cool enough to give the Reservoir Dogs a run for their money. Showing is better than telling, of course and thanks to the gobizillions of videos online ,you don’t have to take my word for it.
