DJ Pauly D.
Who might you ask is DJ Pauly D? Well, for those of you tend to do everything you can to ignore the often disheartening pop culture world, DJ Pauly D is part of MTV’s (brilliant?) hit Jersey Shore. The reality show follows eight housemates as they maneuver through the summers together with much of the tape relying on partying, Snooki’s “poof” hair, GTL (gym. tan. laundry), fist pumping and plenty of members of the opposite sex.
The show has not been without controversy… initially stemming from the widespread use of the words “Guido” and “Guidette” to advertise the new show. In fact, UNICO slammed the show, calling for a boycott with claims of “denigration” of Italian Americans. And of course let’s not forget the “grenade” theory. According to MTV.com, “In short, a grenade is an unattractive woman, usually accompanied by a more attractive woman. The idea is that your wing man will have to “fall on the grenade” in order to allow you to seal the deal with the superior specimen. It’s a little offensive, sure, but it’s also pretty clever.” And that seems to sum it up… Jersey Shore lives a little on the offensive, but apparently clever and most certainly successful.
All controversy aside, I will admit that I enjoy Jersey Shore as a guilty pleasure on Thursday nights. And, according to recent ratings of Season 3, I am not the only one – 8.45million viewers watched the premiere episode making it MTV’s most watched series telecast ever. Both MTV and the cast are having some series fist pumps over that one.
There are definitely bright spots within the Jersey Shore show, one of which can be DJ Pauly D’s wonderful one-liners. In my “stalka”(I mean watchful) opinion, I believe that Pauly D is the listener among the group. He patiently watches as drama unfolds, often with his eyes wide in disbelief until the opportunity strikes for him to drop in his wise words of wisdom. For example – “You can’t walk in with a giant banana and expect everything to be peaches.” Insert my snarky comment: the meaning of my life is now complete.
Most famous for his “The Cabs are Here” and “It’s TShirt Time”, DJ Pauly D rallies up the troops on the set of Jersey Shore and is certain to do the same at the 15th Annual Polar Bear Plunge this Saturday, January 29th. Let’s here it now, “IT’S PLUNGING TIME!!!”.
That’s right, from 12:30 until 4pm, DJ Pauly D will make his first official appearance in the state of Maryland at the quirky winter event that raises money for Special Olympics of Maryland. DJ Pauly D will spin on site (that’s right ‘DJ’ is not just a clever moniker) for Plungers and spectators.
How can you take part of this fist pumping, “OH YEAH” action? There are a few options for you;
- You can take the plunge and register for the 2011 Polar Bear Plunge. You only need to raise a minimum of $50 and I bet your Mom would help you with that just for saying you want to help out Special Olympics. Maybe you’ll even raise more than $50!
- Or go big pimpin’. Rams Head Ice Lodge VIP. VIP parking. VIP stage presence for all the live music action. Meet & Greet with Pauly D. Plus you get fed too.
- While you’re at the Rams Head Ice Lodge, get a chance to have a meet & greet with Pauly D himself. You might just win the golden ticket. It’s a 3 in 150 chance to meet him, the odds are pretty good. I’d place that bet. Buy your bDaily bag at the Rams Head table. Winners announced at 3pm.
- You can come as a spectator at the Plunge this Saturday. This is truly THE winter event in the area and there’s plenty to do for all ages. Come to the Rams Head Ice Lodge tent and you can enjoy Pauly D’s choice of tracks.
- You can join the facebook pressure to see if we can get Pauly D to get his hair wet with the fan page, Pauly D Plunges.
We’ll leave you with a few other ‘did you knows’ to order to get refreshed for Saturday’s pop culture quiz. See you Saturday for a little GTP… gym, tan, plunge!
