More Thievery for the thirsty masses.

Because our blog stats show that you were searching for clips and pics from Friday’s Thievery Corporation show, we’ve decided to post another video. This one: Lebanese Blonde. Enjoy.

Thievery Corporation_Live = Holy Fantastic!

I was almost completely satisfied after sound check. Seriously.

Thievery Corporation LIVE

Washington, D.C.-based recording artist and DJ duo, Rob Garza and Eric Hilton, melted our minds on Friday night with an amazing live set that included the support of a 10-piece (there may have been more) live band. By mixing dub, acid jazz, Indian classical, baking in a little Brazilian bossa nova and icing the cake with a smooth lounge aesthetic Thievery Corporation have created quite a treat for the ear, mind, and in Friday night’s performance, the eye as well.

View a snipit of the live performance below, and check out some of Jim Hendershot’s goose-bump enducing photos by checking out his myspace page. Thanks Jim, for helping us share our live experiences with the world.

Poster Peek.

In the Spring 2009 semester Krista Chester, graphic designer at Rams Head Live contacted Bernard J Canniffe, Graphic Design Co-Chair at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) to have students develop promotional posters for a music event. Krista identified Thievery Corporation as the band to promote and the MICA Sophomore students spent five weeks producing promotional posters, Tee Shirts, Mugs and Hats.

Take a look. Find us on facebook by searching ‘Rams Head Live’. Take a peek at the students’ posters, and leave a comment about your favorite one.

Thanks to everyone who participated – we look forward  to working with Baltimore’s young and talented again in the future.

Rams Head & MICA present ‘A Presentation’

open source video, online video platform, video streaming, video solutions

We are very excited to be working with Bernard Canniffe, Graphic Design Professor and Co-Chair at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). Together, we have presented two of his Sophmore level design classes with an opportunity to design posters (and perhaps additional marketing collateral) for our February 27th Thievery Corporation show at Rams Head LIVE! We’re looking forward to working with Bern and his students on what should be not only a fun learning project but one that will also provide each student with a professional piece for their portfolio and the experience of working on a professional level with a local Baltimore business.

The final pieces will be displayed in a “virtual show” format on our 25 flatscreen monitors. Students will then be invited to present their work and ideas to the group in a tradtional critique format within our VIP viewing areas prior to the show.

Due to the joyful chaos of local Presidential Inauguration festivities at our Rams Head Tavern in Annapolis, we were unable to personally present this project to the class. However we have provided this video as a “Virtual Presentation”…. keeping with the theme of the project in a way.

Bern & Students: Get your pens and pencils ready and push play when your ready to be WOWed by the artistically inclined, overly animated, tap-dancing triple-threat known to those who lover her simply as “CHESTER.”

From the Bunker….

Hey everybody….

I have to admit..I’m a little freaked out right now. Last week I spoke highly of Eartha Kitt in this blog and then she died. Hopefully… this is not the beginning of a “from-the-bunker” curse. But just in case… Pauly Shore.

On a lighter note, New Year’s Eve is almost over and it’s time to start thinking about 2009. We have several incredible shows coming up at Rams Head LIVE that may have gotten lost on you during the Christmas Crunch.

Coming soon: Scott Weiland, Thievery Corporation, The Black Keys, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Mr. Greenegenes, Dropkick Murphys, Hollywood Undead, and a special January tri-bill featuring 3 of Ska’s best party bands; The English Beat, Bad Manners, and The Pietasters.

For info on dates and times, check out www.ramsheadlive.com but make sure you call before coming to the show because you never know which one of these bands took it from the curse.

Thanks, and see ya next week (hopefully).

P.s., we are not making light of Ms. Kitt’s passing… she was an amazing talent an amazing lady, and sooo much better than Lee Merriweather. (You better watch out Lee)
